First Transit’s Operation for Capital Metro Named Large Business of the Year by COMTO Austin
First Transit's operation for Capital Metro, operating the University of Texas (UT) shuttle, received the Large Business of the Year award from the Austin chapter of the Conference of Minority Transportation Officials (COMTO). First Transit is a leading provider of passenger transportation contract and management services in the United States.
The award recognizes the dedication and innovation displayed by businesses within the transportation industry.
"We are extremely honored to receive this recognition from COMTO," said Scott Lansing, general manager, First Transit. "This accomplishment was a team effort. Each of us is focused on providing safe and reliable transportation for our customers."
First Transit has operated the UT shuttle system for Capital Metro since 2005. The company's commitment to improved operations was recently reflected in some of the highest customer satisfaction numbers in the history of the service. In 2010, First Transit became the first contractor to have its contract for this service renewed.
COMTO also recognized Jah Love, Inc. as its Disadvantaged Business Enterprise of the Year. The company is a subcontractor for First Transit at the Capital Metro operation. Jah Love, Inc. provides fleet service and cleaning.
This was the inaugural year for the COMTO Austin awards, which were presented Dec. 2 in Austin.
