Robert "Rob" Turton, one of the industry's most recognized specialist in bridge and structural engineering, has joined HNTB Corp. to lead and enhance its national bridge practice. Rob Turton, PE, SE, joins HNTB as a senior vice president and national bridge practice leader. Turton brings more than 35 years of extensive experience in the planning, design and construction of bridge structures using state-of-the-art analysis, design and construction techniques. He has authored technical papers, lectured at universities and presented at many national and international symposiums on a wide range of bridge and structural engineering topics.
Turton has served as principal engineer on many large and complex bridge projects, including the Hoover Dam Bypass project. He has worked on such notable bridge projects as the Navajo Bridge in Grand Canyon National Park, the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge East Bay Crossing the I-5/Columbia River Crossing and the Golden Gate Bridge Seismic Retrofit.
Since the firm's founding nearly 100 years ago, HNTB has been recognized as an industry leader in planning, design and construction of complex, long-span and movable bridges. HNTB's bridge practice has been responsible for numerous award-winning signature bridge projects across the United States including the Leonard P. Zakim Bunker Hill Bridge in Boston; the Blennerhassett Bridge in West Virginia; Bob Kerry Pedestrian Bridge in Omaha, Neb; the Lake Champlain Bridge in New York and the Mississippi River Bridge in St. Louis.
