APTA President and CEO Michael P. Melaniphy to Deliver Keynote Address at 17th Annual BusCon Conference and Expo
Michael P. Melaniphy, President and CEO of APTA (American Public Transportation Association) will deliver the Keynote Address at the 17th Annual BusCon, taking place September 11-12, 2012 at Chicago's Navy Pier.
Melaniphy was among a small group of people present at President Obama's recent signing of the two-year, $105 billion surface transportation bill, which would help keep transit systems in a state of good repair and provide funding for bus replacement and bus facilities. In the wake of this important legislation, Melaniphy's Keynote Address on Wednesday, September 12th will review the "State of the Industry."
As a nationally recognized leader, Melaniphy's entire career has been in public transportation, with more than 24 years of public and private sector experience. Previously, Melaniphy served as Vice President, public sector for the bus manufacturer, Motor Coach Industries, Inc., where he worked for more than 10 years and was responsible for a $250 million division with facilities in the United States and Canada. Prior to that, he led public transit systems for 11 years in Charlotte, NC; Wichita, KS; Hamilton, OH; and Laredo, TX.
