ROUSH CleanTech Expands Commercialization of Transit Shuttle Buses with New Conversion Partner
ROUSH CleanTech marked another milestone with the unveiling of a propane autogas fueled shuttle bus converted by their newest preferred industry partner, Green Alternative Systems. Using their existing sales and service channel, Green Alternative Systems (GAS) has partnered to provide installations for ROUSH CleanTech propane autogas fueling systems in the transit, paratransit and commercial ground transportation markets. According to Green Alternative Systems, a certified Ford Qualified Vehicle Modifier alternative fuels installer, GAS is the largest commercial alternative fuel conversion company in the country, completing more than 1,000 installations last year. "The time is right and the demand is high for a clean fuel solution in the transit market. ROUSH CleanTech has put substantial time and effort into developing a liquid propane autogas fuel system that not only reduces carbon emissions, but saves fleets significant amounts of money through lower operating costs," said Todd Mouw, vice president of sales and marketing for ROUSH CleanTech. "With GAS's expertise and understanding of the transit, paratransit and commercial ground transportation markets, this partnership will open up a wealth of possibilities for fleets across America." Built on a Ford E-450 chassis with a 6.8-liter, V10 engine and a 41-gallon propane autogas fuel tank, the ROUSH CleanTech shuttle bus has completed Federal Transit Administration's New Model Bus Testing Program ("Altoona Testing") and is certified for sale in all 50 states by the California Air Resources Board and Environmental Protection Agency. "With minimum upfront cost, propane autogas conversions performed by Green Alternative Systems provide the ROI fleet operators are looking for," said Sean Connolly, general manager of GAS. "Any transit agency having their ROUSH CleanTech propane autogas fuel system conversions done by GAS can expect a quality installation completed in a quick and efficient manner." Propane autogas historically costs 30 to 40 percent less than gasoline, and is readily available through a nationwide network of refueling infrastructure. The ROUSH CleanTech propane autogas fuel system delivers equivalent horsepower, torque and towing capacity compared to gasoline versions of the same models, but emit 20 percent less nitrogen oxide, 60 percent less carbon monoxide and up to 25 percent less greenhouse gases. |
