First Transit District Manager Tim McGowan, Pasadena ARTS and DAR, and General Manager Phil Pumphrey, Omnitrans, were both appointed certified community transit managers (CCTM) by the Community Transportation Association of America. CCTM status marks the greatest performance and highest efficiency in the community transportation industry and shows that recipients have the ability to successfully manage a comprehensive and dynamic community transportation system.
“It is an honor to receive this certification,” Pumphrey said. “I could not have accomplished this without the talented team I work with every day to ensure we provide safe and efficient transit services to our riders.”
To become a CCTM, a person must submit an application documenting their experience and accomplishments, and must pass a comprehensive written examination. The exam addresses five transit related areas: — human resources management, operations management, financial management, transit development and procurement and contracting.
“This certification means a lot to me and my many years in the industry,” McGowan said. “I’ve been lucky enough to have a great team who makes my work enjoyable and fulfilling. I’m very thankful for this recognition.”
