The Macatawa Area Express (MAX Transit) invites community members to tell government officials what they think about transportation in Michigan in a video competition held by Transportation for Michigan (Trans4M). MAX Transit is participating in Trans4M’s "Lights, Camera, Transportation!" contest by hosting a coffee social on Friday, Feb. 22 from 8 a.m. to noon in the main Padnos Center lobby.
At the coffee social, Trans4M staff will be videotaping comments from MAX, Amtrak and Indian Trails passengers about changes or improvements they’d like to see in these modes of transportation, as well as community and statewide transportation as a whole. The videos recorded will be posted on YouTube, and the one with the most views will win the hosting transit provider $1,000 towards any transportation project of their choice. Individuals also can win one of twenty $50 gift cards for a business of their choice.
Community members can also participate by preparing their own video. Using any video-capturing device (for example, a cellphone), contest participants can speak their mind about topics such as how they would prefer to commute, what they like/dislike about our community’s transportation systems, what changes they would like to see, and what they would like to ask of Michigan decision-makers regarding community transportation.
