NTT Data Inc., a leading global IT services provider, announced today that it has signed an agreement with the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) to bring its IT vision forward through improved internal processes, cutting edge technology, and leveraging the high-caliber talent of its existing employees, all with a goal of helping it become a best-in-class state agency.
NTT Data will provide support for application maintenance and development, end user support, and service desk support. Additionally, NTT Data will provide network and telecommunications systems support and IT security.
Leveraging proprietary tools and proven best practices, NTT Data will focus on modernizing the processes and technologies required to support current and future TxDOT business operations, helping to unlock inefficiencies and allow the agency to reinvest savings into other strategic priorities. Ultimately, TxDOT aims to be better positioned to meet legislative demands and respond more quickly with innovative services for their constituents.
“TxDOT has an opportunity to have a robust and modern IT environment that will make us more productive and provide the necessary tools and capabilities for our team to be successful," said Phil Wilson, executive director of TxDOT. “We believe this new partnership will make TxDOT IT more efficient, so we can better serve our employees, the taxpayers, and the state of Texas. NTT Data is the right partner given their track record of innovation in the public and private sector."
Important to the success and transition of the IT services, all current TxDOT IT employees will be offered positions in NTT Data or in a TxDOT IT organization. This partnership gives the agency the ability to modernize more rapidly and efficiently while also providing approximately 300 employees access to new technologies, leading industry innovations, and learning and professional development opportunities to support their continued career growth.
"We are excited about our partnership with TxDOT and look forward to leveraging our expertise and rich history for high-quality services to help this agency meet its long-term goals,” said John McCain, president and CEO, NTT Data, Inc. “We share a common objective with TxDOT to bring improved services to its employees and the citizens of the state of Texas.”
