The Transportation and Expressway Authority Membership of Florida (TEAMFL) announced that Jacksonville Transportation Authority CEO Nathaniel P. Ford, Sr. has been appointed to the organization’s board of directors.
TEAMFL was formed in 1997 to facilitate the exchange of information among toll agencies and the transportation industry. Members discuss statewide issues in an effort to develop high-quality roadway systems in all corners of the state.
Ford has more than 30 years of transportation industry experience and has run two of the largest transportation agencies in the country, the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA), and the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA).
As CEO of MARTA, Ford was responsible for leading a staff of approximately 4,200 employees and overseeing a budget of almost $800 million, he also commanded MARTA’s multimodal operations that included more than 680 buses, 120 bus routes and a rail system of 338 rail cars.
In 2006, he returned to San Francisco as CEO of the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency. In this role, he oversaw 5,000 employees and managed a $1.5 billion budget. In 2013, Ford was hired as CEO of JTA where he is building a blueprint for transportation excellence and working with his staff to implement both short and long-term goals set forth in this blueprint.
“I am honored and privileged to serve as a member of TEAMFL’s board,” Ford said. “I share this organization’s passion for improving the transportation industry in Florida.”
TEAMFL explores potential policies and represents significant causes to the Florida Department of Transportation and the Federal Highway Administration.
Ford joins a 16-member board that oversees the goals of TEAMFL.
