IN: Congressman Marlin Stutzman Visits Bendix Manufacturing Operation in Huntington
Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems LLC hosted U.S. Rep. Marlin Stutzman, R-Ind., at its Huntington, Ind., production facility on July 22.
Stutzman toured the state-of-the-art facility, met with its leaders to discuss issues affecting the commercial vehicle industry, and learned about key parts of the Huntington operation, including the growth of its remanufacturing efforts. The visit was part of the company’s ongoing efforts to educate lawmakers on the impact its operations have on the commercial vehicle industry and the communities where they are located.
“Bendix has been a positive force in Huntington for more than three decades, and I was pleased to see during my visit that the company remains as committed as ever to growing and strengthening its business and presence in the community,” Stutzman said. “Huntington’s employees and facilities are a great example of Indiana’s talent, innovation, and cutting-edge manufacturing capabilities.”
By salvaging key components of returned products and reassembling them with other salvaged and new components, Bendix provides remanufactured products that meet original equipment manufacturer (OEM) specifications and ensure availability even in peak demand years. Bendix engineers also use components originally manufactured by other brands to bring remanufactured parts as close as possible to their OEM specifications.
Remanufacturing also reduces Bendix’s environmental impact by lessening the energy use and carbon dioxide output associated with the fabrication of new parts.
“We were glad to host Congressman Stutzman, and to continue our efforts to keep our representatives updated on the great work we do in Huntington and at other Bendix facilities,” said Fred Andersky, director of government and industry affairs at Bendix. “We appreciated his interest in our people and operations and the opportunity to reinforce how the economic decisions made in Washington, D.C., can impact our industry, and in turn, our plants and employees across North America.”
