Oniqua MRO Analytics announced that Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority has chosen Oniqua Analytics Solution (OAS) to optimize the agency’s equipment spares inventories in order to enhance maintenance effectiveness and control costs.
“Metro’s asset maintenance inventory is complex and unique. We maintain 20 warehouses throughout Los Angeles County to provide inventory and parts to maintain our railcars, buses and operating facilities. Efficient and effective management of the nearly 16,000 active materials used to maintain our equipment and assets is essential to meet our service and safety goals,” stated Robert New, deputy executive officer, Acquisitions & Supply Chain Management for Metro.
Metro provides bus and rail service for one of the largest, most populous counties in the United States. More than 9.6 million people — nearly one-third of California’s residents — live, work and play within Metro’s 1,433-square-mile service area. Metro operates a fleet of more than 2,200 coach buses, and its rail assets include more than 270 rail cars running on more than 79 miles of track. The agency serves as transportation planner and coordinator, designer, builder and operator.
“Metro needed an inventory optimization solution that could provide our material planning staff with replenishment calculations for each material item held in inventory at each inventory location across the agency, and interface seamlessly with our M3 ERP system,” said New. “After conducting a detailed RFP process and performing comprehensive due diligence, we found that Oniqua and OAS provide the analytics features, capabilities and scalability to meet Metro’s inventory optimization objectives.”
With OAS, Metro’s inventory management team will be able to consistently supply materials congruent with customer demand; calculate materials stocking levels to meet materials demands at each location; manage the life cycle of each material held in inventory; and maintain targeted levels of material availability.
