CA: Cubic, Metropolitan Transportation Commission Launch Mobile Website for Clipper Card
Cubic Transportation Systems and the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) announced the launch of a new mobile website for Clipper Card giving customers an easy, on-the-go way to manage their accounts from a variety of mobile phones.
The newly designed site gives Clipper Card customers the convenience of checking their card balance, adding fare products to their cards, registering their cards and ordering new cards, all using a mobile phone. This is an example of Cubic’s ongoing commitment of empowering travelers with actionable and information-driven solutions, which is a core feature of the NextCity vision.
The new site delivers account management functions in simple, easy-to-read pages, optimized for mobile devices. The main website will automatically detect when a patron accesses the website from a mobile phone and redirect the user to the mobile website.
"Until now, the Clipper website has been challenging to use on mobile phones, but now customers can do everything on the mobile website that they can do on the Clipper website," said Carol Kuester, director, electronic payments, MTC. "We’re excited to offer this new contact
channel with added usability to navigate our website more comfortably and conveniently for our customers who rely on their mobile phones."
Matt Newsome, vice president and regional director, West Coast, Cubic Transportation Systems, said, "We are committed to providing the best customer solution and service to MTC and the Bay Area transit operators participating in the Clipper system, and this is one more example of our efforts to keep the experience a positive one."
Clipper Card is the regional smart card system governed by the Metropolitan Transportation Commissioner, the agency that plans, coordinates and finances transportation projects in the nine-county San Francisco Bay Area. Participating operators include the Alameda-Contra Costa Transit District (AC Transit), Bay Area Rapid Transit District (BART), Caltrain, Golden Gate Transit and Ferry, San Francisco Bay Ferry, San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency, the San Mateo County Transit District (SamTrans) and Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA).
In addition to serving as the system integrator, Cubic operates the Clipper Card customer call center, Clipper Card fulfillment and distribution, technical help desk, the retail merchant network, and the transit benefits systems for employer/employee management of transit subsidies.
