VT: CCTA Celebrates 10 Years of Montpelier Link Express Service
Sept. 19, 2013
The Chittenden County Transportation Authority (CCTA) is celebrating the 10-year anniversary of the Montpelier Link Express, its most successful and long-standing commuter service.
CCTA and the Green Mountain Transit Agency (GMTA) began operating the Montpelier Link Express in September 2003 and in its 10 years of operation the route has grown into a vitally important regional connection. The route links residents of Chittenden and Washington Counties to employment opportunities and services and offers a safe, affordable, and comfortable alternative to driving alone. Currently averaging over 500 passengers per weekday, the Montpelier Link Express helps the communities along the corridor continue to develop and grow without a commensurate growth in congestion and parking.
CCTA will be holding a celebration event at the State House Lawn in Montpelier on Sept. 23. Members of the public and transit supporters are encouraged to stop by at any time that morning, with speakers offering a few comments at 7:30 a.m. Refreshments will be offered and a commemorative gift will be available for the first 250 attendees.
