Foothill Transit's Roland Cordero Named 2013 Sustainability All Star by Green Fleet Magazine

Foothill Transit Director of Maintenance and Vehicle Technology Roland Cordero honored with a Sustainability All Star Award by Green Fleet Magazine, one of 40 fleet professionals nationwide striving to implement and offer green solutions through the use of alternative fuels and reducing emissions. Winners were recognized at this year’s 2013 Green Fleet Conference & Expo on Oct. 2 in Phoenix, AZ.

The awards are given based off nominee submissions and are reviewed by the magazine’s staff. The winning criteria include:

• Professional longevity — Time in the fleet industry dedicated to sustainability efforts
• Accomplishments — Examples of significant sustainability achievements
• Innovation — Examples of innovative ways individuals have contributed to reducing emissions and fuel consumption
• Overall industry involvement — Involvement in industry-wide efforts to promote sustainable fleet transportation solutions

Cordero’s contributions include maintaining and advocating for alternative fuel technologies. He is also directly responsible for implementing the agency’s Environmental and Sustainability Management Program, which allowed Foothill Transit to become the nation’s first ISO 140001 certified public transit agency. ISO 14000 is a family of standards related to environmental management that exists to help organizations minimize how their operations negatively affect the environment (i.e. cause adverse changes to air, water, or land); comply with applicable laws, regulations, and other environmentally oriented requirements, and continually improve in the above.
