KCATA Wins Grand Prize Award in National Transit Competition
The American Public Transportation Association (APTA) has awarded the Kansas City Area Transportation Authority (KCATA) its Grand Prize in the 2013 Annual AdWheel Awards competition. The AdWheel Awards acknowledge the creative excellence of member public transportation systems and business members in advertising, communications and marketing.
KCATA won the category of “Transit Card” for the interior bus signs on Main Street and Troost MAX. This series of interior signs celebrates the many exciting destinations along the Main St. and Troost MAX routes, as well as the environmentally friendly features of the Troost MAX.
The prizes are awarded for five main categories and are evaluated by industry peers, based on the following parameters: target audience, situation/challenge for creating the entry, strategy/objective of the entry and the results/impact of the entry. The Grand Prize is awarded to the best entry in the entire print category for transit systems between 4 million and 20 million riders per year.
“We are delighted that APTA chose KCATA’s transit cards for a Grand Prize AdWheel award,” KCATA Communications Director Cindy Baker said. “We are very honored to be recognized from among the many impressive transit marketing efforts from across the nation.”
KCATA was recognized at a special ceremony during the American Public Transportation Association's 2013 Annual Meeting in Chicago on September 30.
