VHB was awarded a 3-year continuing services contract to provide the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District 5 with transportation planning support. FDOT District 5 is the fastest growing district in the state of Florida, covering nine counties and nearly 9,000 square miles.
VHB is proud to add this contract to a wide range of services it provides to District 5 including engineering, transit planning, stormwater and environmental services. VHB has worked with District 5 providing transit planning, engineering, environmental and stormwater design for SunRail since 2006. The new contract allows VHB the opportunity to support FDOT District 5 with services including Systems Planning, Transit and Intermodal Support, Corridor Planning, Land Planning/Engineering, Traffic Studies, MPO Assistance and Public Outreach Support.
“This win is a reflection of VHB’s ability to deliver results for DOTs and local transportation agency clients in multiple disciplines,” says Laurence Lewis, project manager/transportation systems manager for VHB’s Florida region. “We look forward to continuing to support District 5 as they advance their mission of linking community planning with transportation design throughout the region.”
District 5 is made up of nine counties which include Brevard, Flagler, Lake, Marion, Orange, Osceola, Seminole, Sumter, and Volusia. The district is served by five transit authorities, five rail lines, one deep-water port, and more than 160 public/private airports.
