SouthWest Transit and the Suburban Transit Providers recognized Sen. David Osmek for his work supporting transit concerns at the state Legislature. The “Champion of Transit” award is presented to legislators whose efforts are outstanding.
Osmek, a resident of Mound, Minn., who represents Senate District 33, was presented the award at the December meeting of the SouthWest Transit Commission. He was influential in ensuring that the shoulder lanes of Hwy 494 were made accessible to transit buses.
“Being able to travel along shoulder lanes where allowed is of great advantage to transit,” said Len Simich, CEO of SouthWest Transit. “We thank Senator Osmek for his assistance in this effort.”
Senate District 33 includes a portion of the city of Chanhassen on its south edge and moves north and west from there.
