IN: Transpo Names Safety, Security and Training Manager
The South Bend Public Transportation Corporation (Transpo) has named Mike Pancoast to the newly created position of safety, security and training manager effective March 17.
Pancoast joined Transpo in 2003 as a part-time fixed route operator and moved to a full-time operator position in 2005. In 2012, he was promoted to operations supervisor where he was responsible for the maintenance of routes and time points, assisting operators with their day-to-day responsibilities and responding to roadside problems and customer service issues.
In his new role with Transpo, Pancoast will be responsible for safety education, accident prevention, loss control and security along with environmental and regulatory compliance. His responsibilities also include promoting a safe and healthy work environment, recommending measures to reduce accidents / hazards and coordinating other related activities.
“Over his 10 years of employment with Transpo, Mike has shown great dedication to safety, a commitment to operational excellence and leadership within our organization”, said David Cangany, Transpo general manager.
“This new position is part of the reorganization of the operations department to improve the way Transpo operates, develop a heightened safety culture across the organization and help us achieve new levels of success”, continued Cangany.
Pancoast will be acting in dual roles until the operations supervisor position is filled.
As part of the reorganization, Transpo is also hiring for the newly created operations manager position.
