The Alliance for American Competitiveness (AFAC), issued the following statement May 13 regarding the bipartisan Senate introduction of the MAP-21 Reauthorization Act (S.2322):
“The Alliance for American Competitiveness applauds Senate leaders for proposing long-term bipartisan infrastructure legislation designed to improve freight movement and enhance transparency and efficiency in the overall rail system. The inclusion of a formula-based freight program is an important advancement. An efficient infrastructure system must be intermodal, because companies often need rail, surface, water and air transportation to move their freight into the global marketplace. As lawmakers begin work on this significant measure, they should examine how our each element of our nation’s infrastructure system fits together. A stronger infrastructure will help foster economic growth and job creation and keep America’s economy the most competitive in the world.”
