County Executive Robert P. Astorino today announced that Westchester County’s full-service MetroCard Mobile Van outreach service will be expanded by one extra day to include Saturdays, starting in November. The van, provided by the county’s Department of Transportation in conjunction with the MTA New York City Transit, will be making rounds throughout the county to assist riders interested in purchasing MetroCards. See below for the October to December 2014 schedule.
“We responded to the needs of our residents and commuters to make access to this popular service more convenient,” said Astorino.
The MetroCard Mobile Van provides transit riders with a "one-stop shop" for all MetroCard services. In addition, staff will be available to explain rates, discounts and answer questions.
MetroCards can be used on the county’s Bee-Line bus system as well as New York City’s transit system. Regular MetroCards will be available for purchase and existing cards may be refilled. Riders will also be able to apply for reduced rates if they are 65 and older or have qualifying disabilities.
