IndyGo scored a 97 percent on the Transportation Security Administration's (TSA) Baseline Assessment and Security Enhancement (BASE) program.
"We're very pleased with the score we received from the TSA this year," says Mike Terry, president and CEO of IndyGo. "It allows us to see where IndyGo is excelling on security policies and procedures, helping us make our transit service safer for passengers, professional coach operators and administrative staff."
The BASE review is a voluntary assessment, focusing on multiple areas identified by the TSA as fundamentals for an excellent transit security program. The particular emphasis is on security training, public awareness campaigns, emergency preparedness drills and use of visible deterrence.
IndyGo has participated in the BASE review three times, receiving higher marks with each assessment. Comments from this year's review will guide security practices in 2015, helping to establish an even better standard for security programs and assess future progress.
