Former California Air Resources Board Member and Los Angeles World Airports Executive Lydia Kennard has joined the board of directors of Proterra Inc.
Kennard’s extensive background in the areas of transportation, urban planning and sustainability initiatives in Southern California are well-aligned to Proterra’s mission and growth objectives. A Southern California native, she currently serves as the president and CEO of KDG Construction Consulting, a construction management company, and the founding principal of Airport Property Ventures, an operator and developer of general aviation facilities. Kennard is also an active board member of several other organizations and a trustee of the University of Southern California.
“The addition of Lydia Kennard to our board will be extremely beneficial to Proterra, as we continue on our rapid growth trajectory,” said Ryan Popple, CEO, Proterra Inc. “Her deep knowledge of transportation and clean air issues, along with her close ties to the critical California market, make her an excellent resource and source of counsel for us.”
“I am passionate about using my experience and expertise to help improve the quality of the environment,” said Kennard. “Effectively addressing urban transit issues is a major challenge of our time, and Proterra is leading the way in delivering clean, energy-efficient mass transportation options to communities across the country. I am pleased to lend my expertise to advance this cause.”
Kennard holds a juris doctorate from Harvard Law School, a master’s degree in city planning from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and a bachelor’s degree in urban planning and management from Stanford University.
