The MTA invites members of the news media to attend the MTA Police Force Awards Ceremony June 11, at 10 a.m. to be held at the MTA Police Headquarters.
Maryland Department of Transportation Chief of Staff Ed McDonald will join MTA Administrator Paul W. Comfort, MTA Police Chief John Gavrilis and other MTA officials to recognize the efforts of sworn MTA police personnel, civilian members of the MTA police force and regular citizens who have helped contribute to a safe and secure transit system.
MTA Police have a wide range of duties they perform on a daily basis which include crime prevention, fare enforcement, homeland security, customer service, parking enforcement and community relations to name just a few.
The ceremony is designed to shine a light on the acts of bravery performed by MTA law enforcement on a daily basis.
