On Oct. 5, Andisheh Ranjbari was awarded a 2015 American Public Transportation Foundation (APTF) Parsons-Brinckerhoff—Jim Lammie Scholarship in pursuit of her PhD in Transportation Engineering.
AzTA nominated Ranjbari (a recent recipient of an AzTA graduate scholarship at the University of Arizona) for the nationally based scholarship award. As a long time American Public Transportation Association (APTA) member, AzTA was proud to make this recommendation based upon Andisheh’s commitment to public transportation solutions, her continued interest in pursuing higher education in Transportation Engineering, and her participation in in a variety of professional association conferences, organizations, and meetings throughout Arizona.
Ranjbari’s credentials and academic record speak volumes about her current work, but just as important is her ability to bring real world solutions to public transportation programs--including her efforts to promote those solutions with transportation professionals throughout Arizona. Her background as an intern at the San Francisco County Transportation Authority and her work in her native Iran demonstrate a passion for public transportation. That passion has translated into focusing her PhD work on high commute intercity corridors at the University of Arizona, Tucson, Arizona.
Included as part of her academic efforts, Ranjbari has played an important role in Arizona. She has provided analysis and solutions through a partnership with Parsons Brinckerhoff (PB), the primary consultant to the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT), for its soon-to-be completed Intercity Passenger Rail Plan — jointly funded by FTA and FRA. Andisheh continues to promote solutions in High Speed Bus Transit, and has made several presentations to both large and small groups for an innovative intercity transit service in the Tucson-Phoenix Corridor. And, Andisheh has represented the University of Arizona in a leadership role as an academic standout.
Ranjbari is a past recipient of the Arizona Transit Association’s annual academic scholarship, in a partnership with the Metropolitan Phoenix Chapter of WTS.
Honoring the APTF commitment of “investing in our future”, AzTA was proud to recommend the award of a 2015 Scholarship to Andisheh Ranjbari to continue her PhD pursuit at the University of Arizona.
