BAF Applauds Senator Chris Murphy’s 'Fed Up' Initiative
On Nov. 12, Building America’s Future President Marcia Hale released the following statement regarding Connecticut Senator Chris Murphy’s “Fed Up” initiative, aimed at compiling and addressing Connecticut residents’ concerns regarding long, frustrating daily commutes:
“We are pleased to see Connecticut Senator Chris Murphy taking steps to address his constituents’ concerns about snarled commutes through his new “Fed Up” initiative. It is no secret that America’s deteriorating roads, bridges and transit systems have led to longer, more frustrating commutes for Americans across the country. Connecticut residents– many of whom commute to New York City each day – intimately understand this reality. According to the American Society of Civil Engineers, 41 percent of Connecticut’s public roads are in poor condition, which costs the state’s citizens $1.6 billion each year. We applaud Sen. Murphy’s efforts in tackling these issues, and encourage his constituents in the Nutmeg State to report their frustrations with lengthening commutes to his office. We hope that this effort will encourage likeminded individuals in Congress to take meaningful, long-term action on funding our nation’s infrastructure and transportation – not only for Connecticut, but for the entire country.”
