SEPTA Statement on FAST Act

SEPTA Board Chairman Pasquale T. Deon issued the following statement Dec. 4 on the passage and signage of the federal FAST Act:

"The Fixing America’s Surface Transportation (FAST) Act, which passed Congress on Thursday and was signed into law today by President Obama, will provide much-needed, long-term federal funding for critical transportation needs.

We are grateful for the Pennsylvania Congressional Delegation’s efforts on this bi-partisan bill.  SEPTA’s riders are fortunate to be represented in Congress by members who recognize the important role of public transportation.

The predictable and sustained investment provided by the FAST Act will allow SEPTA to continue the authority’s Building for the Future Capital Improvement Program.  Investing in infrastructure and new vehicles enhances service for SEPTA’s more than 1.1 million daily riders and is critical to the region’s economic competitiveness."
