Residents of the Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County (Metro) service area who are heading out for early voting Saturday and on Super Tuesday primary elections can grab a free ride to the polls courtesy of Metro, their regional transit provider.
"Each vote strengthens the fiber of our community and the Metro board of directors strongly encourages every citizen to get out there and make their collective voices heard. It's an investment of time for the voter. We want to recognize and award participants with a free ride to exercise that great right to vote," said Metro chairman Gilbert Garcia.
With Metro's New Bus Network and expanded rail service it will be easier than ever to access a complimentary ride to the polls. Free local bus and MetroRail transport for voters will be available Saturday, Feb. 20, and Super Tuesday, March 1, 2016 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Patrons will be asked to show a current voter registration card to bus operators or fare inspectors on the light-rail platforms.
