Capital Area Transit (CAT) has launched “Find My Cat Bus” a GPS-based mobile website to enable transit riders to easily locate CAT routes, stops, bus locations and estimated arrival times, Bill Jones, general manager, announced.
The number one question CAT customer service personnel are asked every day is “Where’s my bus?” Well now customers can access the answer to that question on their smartphones and other devices via the website www.findmycatbus.com.
CAT has been installing technology upgrades throughout the transit system and onboard every bus over the last year. “And today we’re going live to assess the real time bus locations and other valuable rider information,” Jones said.
CAT riders can visit “Find My Cat Bus” and test the new system by locating their route, stop, bus location and estimated arrival time.
“As we work out kinks in the new technology, we are asking CAT riders to use the website and email their comments and suggestions for improving the system to our planning department at [email protected],” Jones added.
Jones said that due to some programming glitches, “not all route stops will show time predictions”. When a bus leaves the garage and is heading for the 1st stop, time predictions will not be available, only the scheduled time. In addition, we know several cosmetic adjustments such as shorter route and stop names must be made,” he added. “But we’re ready to test the system and gather input from our riders.”
