On Friday, April 9th, the Transportation Association of Maryland (TAM), a statewide organization dedicated to improving the mobility of all of Maryland’s citizens, hosted its 21st Annual Roadeo, a driving competition for the State’s transportation providers. James Kisner, Garrett County Community Action Agency, was awarded the top honor, winning a full scholarship to attend the CTAA National Roadeo in Portland, OR this May. Bruce Mayberry, Cecil Transit, and Vanessa Greene, Trandev, took second and third place respectively.
Despite the rainy weather, the competition measured drivers’ skills in maneuvering vehicles among challenging driving obstacles. Each driver performed a pretrip inspection of a vehicle and demonstrated proficiency in wheelchair securement and passenger assistance. “We are extremely happy to provide transit drivers an event that showcases their skills and recognizes their continuous hard work throughout the state of Maryland. We look forward to supporting Mr. Kisner at the CTAA Roadeo this May and will continue to provide training and event opportunities for our members.”
The event took place on Saturday morning, April 9th, at the Maryland Transit Administration’s Dorsey MARC Station in Elkridge, MD. CTAA’s National Roadeo takes place during the CTAA Expo May 2227th in Portland.
