Durring earth month Megabus celebrated its 10th anniversary of sustainable travel in the United States.

Durring earth month Megabus celebrated its 10th anniversary of sustainable travel in the United States. Over the past decade Megabus has provided transportation to more than 50 million customers across the country. To celebrate the milestone, Megabus partnered with the Arbor Day Foundation to plant 10,000 trees along Megabus routes and on college campuses throughout the country over the next year.

“Bus travel is one of the most eco-friendly ways to travel and it also takes numerous single occupancy trips off the road,” said Sean Hughes, director of corporate affairs for Coach USA/Megabus. “In fact, a recent study of Megabus customers found that traveling alone is the number one way people travel with us.”

The brand is kicked off the celebration in New York City with award-winning actor, Skylar Astin who will be sharing the news about this eco-friendly travel option. He’ll be surprising and delighting customers with festive cake pops and helping to christen their 10th anniversary bus, featuring the brands beloved mascot, Chuck, at one of their Manhattan stops.

“I’m excited to help Megabus celebrate their 10th anniversary by planting 10,000 trees along their routes,” said actor Skylar Astin, “I appreciate their continued commitment to sustainable travel.”

As a leader in sustainable bus travel efforts, Megabus is always looking to continue to reduce their environmental impact which is why all Megabus double decker buses are outfitted with a GreenRoads system. In addition to providing the drivers with real time information and feedback to drive safer, such as highlighting potentially hazardous areas or problematic trends, the system also assists with reducing fuel consumption and carbon emissions.
