Transdev will begin bus and paratransit services for the Concord Kannapolis Area Transit (Rider) system after the city council voted on the contract this spring.
The system serves 500,000 riders annually with seven fixed routes and additional ADA services. Transdev will manage the staff of 47, including 28 operators, and 12 revenue vehicles. Paratransit service, previously operated by Allamance County, will also fall under this new contract.
“We’re thrilled the City of Concord recognized Transdev’s commitment to exceptional service and customer satisfaction. On race day and every day the goal is to provide a seamless and enjoyable trip for all passengers,” said Derrick Breun, regional vice president, southeast region. “We’re excited to have another opportunity to prove why Transdev is the global leader in public transportation solutions.”
Transdev operated the contract for eight years before losing the bid in 2012. After a four-year hiatus we are pleased to begin operations again. The five-year contract begins July 1.
