VIA’s Semester Pass Provides Cost-Effective Travel Options for Students
As another school year begins, VIA Metropolitan Transit has reminded students that they can save money, study for class, and surf the web all semester long with a $38 VIA Semester Pass.
Students in VIA’s service area, from elementary through college, are eligible for the pass. It’s valid from for the fall from August 2016 to January 2017, and for the spring from January to May 2017.
The Semester Pass provides unlimited rides on VIA’s regular bus service. Students spend just pennies a day without having to worry about maintaining a vehicle or parking. All of VIA’s buses and transit centers offer 4G LTE WiFi, which allows riders to stay connected while on their way to and from class.
The fall Semester Pass recently went on sale and can be purchased at most VIA Information Centers. To obtain a Semester Pass, a student must show proof of current registration, proof of enrollment in an accredited degree plan, proof of a paid or partially paid tuition bill, and a school photo ID. If a student does not have a photo ID, VIA can issue one for a $2 fee at the VIA Metro Center, the Downtown Information Center, the Kel-Lac Transit Center, the South Texas Medical Center Transit Center, the North Star Transit Center, the Crossroads Park and Ride, and Centro Plaza.
Students attending any of the Alamo Colleges can go to their bursar’s offices to pick up their Semester Passes, which are included in the tuition fees. Students at the University of Texas at San Antonio main campus can buy their passes at the Roadrunner Express Store, and students at the University of the Incarnate Word can buy passes at the Student Activity Center Information Desk.
