Milwaukee County Transit System (MCTS) Bus Driver Jeannie Mitchell got some much deserved attention by the Milwaukee Bucks on December 20. The Bucks are recognizing Jeannie for her alert reaction and maternal instincts that helped save two Milwaukee children from a very scary situation.

Jeannie was driving her bus this fall when she noticed two young children walking alone. Jeannie stopped the bus to talk to the children and she realized they were lost. MCTS contacted police, and an officer helped the one-year-old boy and five-year-old girl contact their mom.

Jeannie’s story has touched people across the world. A video of her helping the children that was posted on the MCTS Facebook page has reached 16 million people and been viewed more than 6.1 million times.

The Bucks heard about Jeannie’s story and highlighted her actions before the game against the Cleveland Cavaliers. The team is also paying for Jeannie and her family to have dinner, and attend the game.

“Milwaukee County is lucky to have Jeannie and so many incredible public servants helping people every single day,” said County Executive Chris Abele. “Thank you to Jeannie for representing MCTS and Milwaukee County so well, and thank you to the Bucks for being such a wonderful partner and member of the community.”
