The Alameda-Contra Costa Transit District (AC Transit) Board of Directors, under the leadership of President Elsa Ortiz, has announced that a funding bridge has been created that protects supplementary bus lines to Skyline High, Montera Middle and Community Day Schools through the close of the 2017-18 academic year.
AC Transit’s Board of Directors announced it wished to extend its sincerest gratitude to Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf, The Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC), Genesis, the Alliance of Californians for Community Empowerment (ACCE), the Oakland Unified School District (OUSD) and the scores of parents, students, and East Bay residents who demonstrated their support for preservation of this vitally needed student transportation.
Contributions from OUSD combined with bell time changes, service efficiencies, and anticipated additional operating funds now allow for a one-time extension of the service.
AC Transit has preserved service for an additional year, a permanent solution is necessary. AC Transit implores Oakland city leaders, state legislators, OUSD, and parents to support AC Transit as we work to protect this critically needed service for our children.
