CCW to Begin Delivery of Six ZEPS All-Electric Buses to Indianapolis International Airport
Complete Coach Works has announced that it is starting the delivery process of six Zero Emission Propulsion System (ZEPS) all-electric buses to the Indianapolis International Airport (IAA). As a result, IAA will have the largest fleet of electric buses at any airport in the United States.
IAA is acquiring the 35-foot remanufactured buses utilizing a Zero Emissions Vehicle (ZEV) grant from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA.) The grant is designed to assist airport-operated vehicles with emission reduction and facilitates access to zero-emissions technologies at airports across the country.
Mario Rodriguez, executive director of the Indianapolis Airport Authority, stated “Sustainability remains a fundamental goal of the IAA; we take great pride in our accomplishments with electric buses, and hope it sends a clear signal to other airports throughout North America that sustainability and good business practice can fit hand in hand!”
The project, which was awarded earlier this year, is nearing its completion, with the first bus delivery projected to be in late August. The remaining five buses are scheduled to follow in ten-day increments after the first delivery.
Ryne Shetterly, ZEPS sales manager, said "This is great news for Complete Coach Works and the ZEPS program. By purchasing six rebuilt all-electric buses, IAA represents the forward-thinking organizations that will be crucial for the industry moving ahead. CCW is honored to partner with IAA to help them reach their goals and, in taking this initiative, solidifying IAA as a progressive leader in emerging sustainable technology."
