SLO Transit to Offer New Laguna Tripper Bus Service
Starting this Monday, August 28th, in response to transit popularity this school year, SLO Transit will now be offering the public a new bus connection to Laguna Middle School. The Laguna Tripper bus service will make a morning and an afternoon trip that coincides with Laguna Middle School bell times, servicing Downtown, Foothill Blvd, and Laguna Middle School. The goal is to alleviate the congestion and overcrowding on SLO Transit’s Routes 3A and 3B runs, which see the biggest impact during the morning and afternoon travel periods.
A “Tripper” bus service is distinguished from other transit service routes by its limited number of runs designed around specific peak traffic or ridership periods. The city’s Routes 3A and 3B are ideal candidates to see supplement Tripper bus service due to the significant use of public transit by middle school students. The Laguna Tripper will operate all school year from August 28, 2017 to June 7, 2018.
“While available to the entire general public, this additional level of service gives parents and students more public transit options to and from one of this city’s key trip generators (Laguna Middle School) during the peak times. And, it’s our hopes that this new service will help alleviate the congestion for everyone using the Routes 3A and 3B today,” states Transit Manager, Gamaliel Anguiano.
Conveniently, Student Discount Passes are sold at Laguna Middle School, SLO High School, and Boo Boo Records. Transit passes are also sold at the SLO Chamber of Commerce and the City Finance Counter.
