On Monday, September 18, 2017, Laketran’s Board of Trustees announced Laketran will provide additional late night service for Local Routes 1-6 and Dial-a-Ride service for the holiday season. The extended service hours will operate from Monday, November 13, 2017 through Saturday, December 30, 2017.
The extended hours provide additional transit service so employees can work later when retail outlets expand their hours for the holiday season and encourage riders to shop locally.
“About sixty percent of our riders use the bus to get to work and many riders are employed at local retail and restaurant businesses along our busiest routes who can now work later hours during the holiday season,” explained Laketran’s director of marketing Julia Schick.
During holiday hours, Local Routes 1-6 will operate weekdays from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. and Saturday 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Dial-a-Ride will operate weekdays 5:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. and Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. with ADA Dial-a-Ride service available until 9:00 p.m.
“We are always trying to find ways to put additional service on the road to meet the needs of our customers. By extending service hours, our goal is to increase job access and encourage residents to shop locally during the holiday season,” shared board president Brian Falkowski.
