Alexandria Transit Company has announced that they will be showcasing an All-Electric Bus of the Future during a special demonstration and display on Wednesday, February 7 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. The event will include remarks by ATC/DASH General Manager Josh Baker at 5:30 p.m. All attendees are invited to come see the vehicle and technology and take a free try and ride following remarks. The event will take place at Alexandria City Hall Market Square located at 301 King Street, Alexandria, Virginia.
As part of our ongoing environmental efforts and alliance with the city of Alexandria’s Eco City Charter, DASH has obtained a fully electric bus on a trial basis for demonstrations, testing and evaluation. The electric bus will operate as part of a regular DASH revenue service the week of February 3 – 10. DASH customers will have the opportunity to ride the bus as a part of their regular commute free of charge. Riders on the routes serviced by the bus will be asked to complete a survey about their experience after their ride.
“Through our ongoing commitment towards evaluating and investing in green technology, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and planning for a sustainable future; we have been able to partner with New Flyer Industries of North America to pilot an all-electric “Xcelsior CHARGE” transit bus right here in our home city,” said Josh Baker, ATC general manager/CEO.
