GRTC Begins Express Service to Kings Dominion This Spring

The Greater Richmond Transit Company has announced it will resume express service to Kings Dominion on Saturday, March 24, 2018 to coincide with the Spring opening of the park.

The Greater Richmond Transit Company has announced it will resume express service to Kings Dominion on Saturday, March 24, 2018 to coincide with the Spring opening of the park.

In previous years, this seasonal service began Memorial Day Weekend, but the demand for GRTC’s successful express route supports an earlier opening. Employees and park guests alike can ride reliably to this desirable destination and employment center in Central Virginia.

“Kings Dominion is pleased to expand the partnership with GRTC this season and to have supported its growth over the years,” says Katelyn Sherwood, PR and Communications Manager for Kings Dominion.

Starting Saturday, March 24, 2018, GRTC will operate primarily weekend service until Memorial Day Weekend. Additional service, like previous years, continues through the Summer to Labor Day weekend, followed by Fall service on Saturdays and Sundays through Halloween Haunt.

GRTC’s CEO David Green says, “Our service allows guests of Kings Dominion to enjoy a convenient ride to and from the park. We also enable Kings Dominion employees to reliably get to and from work, and we are proud to offer Spring service for the first time.”

Passengers are able to board the 102x Kings Dominion Express at Southside Plaza and also at a special Kings Dominion Bus Stop at Broad & 11th Street in Downtown Richmond. The 102x bus also services all westbound bus stops on GRTC’s temporary construction detour on Grace St. between 7th Street and Belvidere Street for express service directly to Kings Dominion. Southside Plaza is the recommended pick-up and drop-off location for vehicular traffic. The updated Summer and Fall schedule will be available by June.

The fare remains the same as previous years. For only $5.00 per trip, visitors will avoid the cost of gas and parking, save wear and tear on their cars, and fully relax by letting someone else do the driving when they visit Kings Dominion, a great destination for family fun! The fare for Kings Dominion employees (with employee ID) is $3.00 per trip.
