The Greater Richmond Transit Company celebrated its Operators on Friday, March 16, 2018 as part of national “Transit Driver Appreciation Day.”

Buses will display a special message on the electronic destination header signs, which says, “We appreciate our Operators!” Administrative GRTC staff will deliver “thank you” bags to Operators and honor them at GRTC headquarters throughout the day.

More than 250 (full and part-time) GRTC Operators provide consistently safe and reliable transportation in the Greater Richmond Area for about 28,000 riders daily, most of whom are commuting to or from work. With the pending launch of GRTC’s new bus rapid transit service, the Pulse, GRTC continues to hire and welcome aboard new Operators.

When the bus is not moving and it is safe to do so, riders are encouraged to thank their Operator and share photos with us on social media using the hashtag #tdad (short for “Transit Driver Appreciation Day”).
