Maggie Walsh, vice president, was recently appointed as the new chair for the WTS International Board of Directors. She will build on her 20-year commitment to WTS, which focuses on promoting equity and access for all women in transportation. As chair, Walsh’s responsibilities include overseeing the organization’s continued drive to open doors for personal and professional development for WTS members, both within the organization and throughout the transportation industry, and collaborating with the Board to achieve the 2021 strategic plan. Her two-year term started in May. Walsh is based in Chicago.
Since joining WTS in 1997, Walsh has held many significant positions at both local and national levels. This includes chapter president of the WTS Chicago chapter and committee positions in the WTS Boston chapter.
Walsh is recognized as an advocate for the advancement of women in the field and frequently lends her voice to a wide variety of women’s development programs. “I am very passionate about the vision and mission of WTS,” she said. “I will bring forces together, bridge differences, respond to needs, and blend abilities of the WTS Board, members and industry leaders as we move into the future.”
“Doing our part to promote and advance the careers of women in transportation makes us stronger as an industry and more sustainable as a company,” said Transportation Group President Brent Felker. “I’m proud of Maggie for her work leading to this appointment and wish her much success during her term.”
More than 250 HDR women and men are members of WTS, including more than 50 serving in leadership roles in local chapters across the country.
