3M Introduces Window Bonding Adhesive Sealant with Improved Performance

June 14, 2018
In what has become a saturated marketplace of outdated product chemistries, 3M set out to provide customers with a fresh formulation for window bonding: 3M Polyurethane Window Bonder Adhesive Sealant 595.

Manufacturers have used the same window bonding products for more than 50 years to adhere windows into buses, trains, boats and other specialty vehicles. In what has become a saturated marketplace of outdated product chemistries, 3M set out to provide customers with a fresh formulation for window bonding: 3M Polyurethane Window Bonder Adhesive Sealant 595. Its new chemistry is developed with high green strength, rapid curing and lower VOCs to help meet the changing environmental and operational needs of today’s manufacturers.

3M Polyurethane Window Bonder Adhesive Sealant 595 is the first in its category to be listed as low VOC. Its formulation meets the stringent requirements set by the Southern California Air Quality Management District, and helps reduce emissions and worker exposure to harmful solvents during application.

In addition, this new state-of-the-art performance works faster and stronger than older window bonding products, with a 1-hour minimum drive away time and better initial hold. The improved green strength builds bond strength faster and reduces the need for additional support prior to cure, making it ideal for manufacturers of large vehicles like buses, trains, boats, ambulances, fire trucks, construction and agricultural equipment.

“This new 595 window bonder is the first of its kind to offer a low VOC formulation.  It also offers improved green strength and faster cure over previous offerings,” said Greg Shipp, 3M Adhesive Sealants global marketing manager. “3M is trusted and known for quality, innovative products and 595 is no exception.”

3M has also increased the cost effectiveness of the adhesive, so customers that purchase the new 3M Polyurethane Window Bonder Adhesive Sealant 595 will experience even greater product value.
