Connect Transit Extending Service to Select Routes Starting in August
The Connect Transit Board of Trustees voted to move forward with extending service an extra hour on Connect Transit’s main routes; Green, Red, Lime and Yellow. The Yellow would be extended only during the academic school year. The other three routes would be extended all year long (Monday-Saturday).
In order to remain cost neutral, the frequency of the Tan and Brown routes will be reduced from once per 30 minutes to once per hour.
- Green Route - Extend time from 9PM to 10PM
- Red Route - Extend time from 8:45PM, 9PM, 9:15PM to 9:45PM, 10PM, 10:15PM
- Lime Route - Extend time from 8:53PM, 9:10PM, 9:23PM to 9:40PM, 9:53PM, 10:10PM
- Yellow Route - Extend time from 9PM to 10PM (during school year)
“We found our customers were very much in favor of later service,” Thorne said. “We worked hard to find a cost neutral solution to provide better service for Bloomington-Normal and help those working evening shifts and taking night classes.”
The extended hours are scheduled to take effect August 19. Connect Transit Trustees also voted in favor of minor route adjustments to the Lime and Pink routes. These adjustments are to increase ridership, expand coverage and make good use of existing infrastructure. These minor adjustments are set to take effect on Sunday, June 17th.
