RTC Bike Share Rides into Year Two with Major Milestones
The Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada celebrated two years of service in downtown Las Vegas this month by reaching major milestones and the launch of a new 3-Day Pass option and Bike Share for Business program for downtown employees.
Milestones
The service, with 180 bikes and 21 docking stations, is living up to its “Bright Lights – Bike City” theme since formally launching in October 2016. Downtown Las Vegas riders have completed over 35,000 rides, burning nearly 4.5 million calories using RTC Bike Share. Over the past two years, pass holders have ridden nearly 113,000 miles, equal to traveling five times around the earth. These bike rides have successfully eliminated over 103,000 pounds of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.
3-Day Pass
During Life is Beautiful this year, RTC Bike Share debuted a 3-day pass for festivalgoers that received positive feedback from downtown residents, and is now available permanently. The available passes include a 24-hour pass for $5 at bike share stations, or a 3-day pass for $10, and 30-day membership for $15 online only.
Bike Share for Business
Beginning November 7, 2018 RTC Bike Share is launching the new Bike Share for Business program that offers local businesses a 20-percect discount on monthly passes for their employees. With three-tier pricing, downtown employers can offer a discounted pass as a benefit to their employees.
Residents are embracing the service. “Bike share has been an excellent catalyst for adventure,” said Lexi Thiel, a Las Vegas resident and frequent user of RTC’s Bike Share. “It gets me out of the house, in the community, and I get to see the city and local businesses.”
With 21 stations and 180 bikes conveniently located in downtown Las Vegas, RTC Bike Share is an easy way for customers to ride to and from the many restaurants, bars and shops the area has to offer.
