The Palm Tran Public Relations Section is being honored by the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) Sunshine District, which is comprised of more than one thousand public relations professionals from Florida, with the Sunshine Radiance Award.
The award is in the category of one-day special events at the annual district conference in Tampa on July 26. The Sunshine Radiance Award recognizes outstanding strategic public relations programs and tactics that demonstrate excellence in planning, execution and evaluation.
“This is a very prestigious award and demonstrates Palm Tran’s commitment to informing the citizens of Palm Beach County about public transportation options,” said Joe Harrington, Palm Tran senior manager of public relations and public information officer.
The award was received for the public relations efforts surrounding the launch of the Route Performance Maximization project (RPM), which was the largest redesign of the Palm Tran bus network in 22 years. The public relations section was tasked with educating existing riders on the changes to the system and attracting new riders. The campaign included a publicized “ribbon-cutting,” which featured a bus driving through a giant ribbon.
“The RPM improved connections between routes, reduced wait-time at bus stops and led to an overall enhanced customer experience,” said Executive Director Clinton Forbes. “Thanks to the efforts of the Public Relations Section, more and more members of the community are learning about these tremendous improvements.”
The Sunshine Radiance Award follows two awards received by Palm Tran from the PRSA Palm Beach County Chapter.
