MBCR Appoints Chief Transportation and Mechanical Officers
Massachusetts Bay Commuter Railroad Company (MBCR) announced the appointment of Bernard McCall as the company’s chief mechanical officer and Edwin Motte as chief transportation officer.
McCall and Motte bring over 75 years of combined experience to MBCR’s management team.
As chief mechanical officer, McCall is responsible for all MBCR mechanical operations, maintenance and inspections; and provisions for safe, reliable passenger coaches and locomotives for the 140,000 daily commuters who ride the MBTA commuter rail system every day. Motte brings over 40 years of railroad industry experience to the chief transportation officer position, where he is responsible for management of all commuter rail lines and train movement, including oversight of schedules, onboard staff, and fare collection.
Prior to joining MBCR, McCall most recently served as Northeast Regional chief mechanical officer with RailAmerica. Previously, he served in the mechanical department of Penn Central and as director of mechanical operations and AVP of Network Operations – Locomotives at CSX. He has worked in the railroad industry for more than 36 years.
McCall holds a Bachelor of Arts in marketing and management from Siena College, as well as associate’s degrees in criminal justice and transportation distribution management.
Prior to joining MBCR, Motte served as vice president of transportation for Pan Am Railways. Previously, he served as deputy regional administrator, Region 1 with the Federal Railroad Administration and as general manager and transportation manager with Conrail.
Motte attended The Franklin Institute, Western New England College and SUNY at Albany.
