Portage Area RTA has received the Ohio Auditor of State Award from State Auditor Dave Yost for faultless record-keeping following a recently completed financial audit.
“This recognition is an expression of the painstaking work of the Finance Department and represents a commitment to excellence on the part of the entire PARTA staff,” said General Manager John Drew.
“We never forget that we are stewards of the dollars entrusted to us by the communities we serve,” said Drew.
“This marks the ninth consecutive year that PARTA has received a perfect audit report,” Director of Finance Rebecca Schrader. “We are very proud of that.”
The Auditor of State Award is presented to local governments and school districts upon the completion of a financial audit, according to the Auditor of State’s office. Those who receive the award are recognized for timely filing of financial reports in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and for reports that are clean.
The clean audit report means that PARTA’s financial audit did not contain findings for recovery, material citations, material weaknesses, significant deficiencies, Single Audit findings, or any questioned costs, according to State Auditor Dave Yost in a letter of congratulations to PARTA.
“Clean and accurate record-keeping are the foundation for good government, and the taxpayers can take pride in your commitment to accountability,” Yost wrote.
