Penn Machine Co., a supplier of OEM and aftermarket wheels, wheelsets, trucks, axles, gears and gearboxes for transit, railroad and industrial/mining applications, has named Steven Laich as director of operations, transit tivision. Laich is responsible for ensuring that the Division’s manufacturing and business processes are performed with maximum efficiency. Prior to joining Penn Machine, he was general manager of Universal Stainless in North Jackson, OH, near Youngstown. He also held a variety of management and staff positions with Allegheny Technologies, Inc. Laich earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Penn State University.
“Steve’s breadth and depth of technical and business experience makes him a valuable addition to our team,” says Donald Sweeney, general manager of Penn Machine’s transit division. “His ability to develop and implement best practices related to lean manufacturing, statistical process control and inventory management should help us to optimize productivity and customer service.”
