Cincinnati Metro Appoints New Sr VP of Operations/COO

Thomas Stringer, Jr. has joined Cincinnati Metro as senior vice president of operations and chief operations officer.

Thomas Stringer, Jr. has joined Cincinnati Metro as senior vice president of operations and chief operations officer.

In this role, Stringer is responsible for overseeing Metro’s Operations, Fleet and Facilities, Accessible Services, and Planning and Development departments, as well as the Cincinnati Streetcar.

Most recently, Stringer served as the senior manager of service delivery for the Jacksonville Transportation Authority in Jacksonville, FL, where he was responsible for the overall management of their fixed-route transportation services. Previously, he served as a regional vice president and general manager with Keolis Transit America and MV Transportation, in addition to holding leadership roles at the Charlotte Area Transit System, McDonald Transit Associates, Inc. and the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority.

He holds a Bachelors of Arts degree in Sociology and Economics from Howard University and a Certification in Transportation Management from the North Carolina State University. 

Stringer serves as a Transportation Research Board committee member, where his most recent work includes, “Minutes Matter: A Guide to Improving Bus Transit Service Reliability.” He has held leadership roles with the Conference of Minority Transportation Officials North Carolina and Florida chapters and is currently a member of the Cincinnati chapter.

Metro is a non-profit public service of the Southwest Ohio Regional Transit Authority, providing about 17 million rides per year in Greater Cincinnati.
