The California Association for Coordinated Transportation (CalACT), an association of 350 California Public Transportation and Human Services Transportation Agencies, at its annual conference and exposition, recognized and honored Richard DeRock with its 2016 Distinguished Leadership Award.
Richard was recognized for his 22 years of transportation leadership and innovation in California. During the presentation, Richard was lauded for his leadership on the Federal Advisory Committee on the Americans With Disabilities Act transportation regulations, his founding and guidance of the US’s largest and most complex coordinated ADA paratransit agency, Access Services Los Angeles, his establishment and management of the Consolidated Transportation Services Agency of Los Angeles County, and his 13 years as an elected member of the CalACT Board of Directors and the Chair of its legislative committee.
Even though Richard has bee the general manager for Link Transit in Wenatchee, WA for the past 14 years, CalACT decided to recognize him for his extensive contributions and achievements while in Los Angeles and the fact that even from Washington State, he continues to provide invaluable advice to California transit agencies based on his groundbreaking efforts in mobility management and vehicle electrification.
