Corpus Christi Regional Transportation Authority Welcomes Another New Tenant
The Corpus Christi Regional Transportation Authority (CCRTA) welcomes the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (TxDMV) as a new tenant into their Staples St. Center administration building, for the next ten years.
“As anticipated, the building will lease itself out. I feel encouraged with the strong interest perspective tenants are showing in this space we have available,” said CEO, Jorge Cruz-Aedo.
The Texas Facilities Commission (TFC) identified a need for lease office space in Corpus Christi, Texas, to meet the requirements of the TxDMV. The CCRTA Staples St. Center was selected on based on these qualifications: Proximity to the TxDOT’s District Office and Service Center, around the clock security, compliance with the Texas Accessibility Standards of the Texas Architectural Barriers Act, experience, financial condition, references and the outstanding condition of their facility.
The tenants thus far in the building are: The CCRTA administration staff occupying 36,555 sq. ft., the Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) occupying 2,333 sq. ft., Valley Transit (Greyhound) occupying 1,529 sq. ft., South Texas Substance Abuse Recovery Services (STSARS) occupying 4,000 sq. ft., Nueces County Social and Veterans Services occupying 4,077 sq. ft., and now the TxDMV occupying 3,727 sq. ft.
The CCRTA’s Staples St. Center officially opened their doors on May 20 and is next door to Corpus Christi City Hall and the Nueces County Courthouse. The building exceeds the 2012 Texas Accessibility Standards’ minimum requirements by providing:
- An additional elevator with larger dimensions for wheelchairs.
- An additional accessible ramp to the raised board platform which is beyond the model for ADA compliance standards.
- Push button or automatic sliding glass doors to all public meeting areas and restrooms.
- Three additional van accessible parking spaces above the five minimum required, barrier-free paved access around the entire perimeter of the building.
